Cejna Êzî celebrated in Shengal
Yazidis in Shengal begin to celebrate Cejna Êzî (English: Feast of Ezid) after three-day fasting. The Yazidis of Shengal began to celebrate the feast by visiting the graves of those who lost their lives while fighting for the liberation of Shengal.
Shengal (Sinjar) - After the three-day fasting that begins on Tuesday and end on Thursday, the Yazidis of Shengal begin to celebrate the Feast of Ezid, a festival of Yazidis. Last night, the Yazidis of Shengal visited the graves of those who lost their lives while fighting for the liberation of Shengal. They lit candles on the graves.
'We will never forget our martyrs'
Making a speech at the cemetery, Nurî Şengalî said, “Happy Cejna Êzî to everyone. We wish a happy feast to our people. We commemorate our martyrs on our special day. We did not forget our martyrs and we will never forget them. We visit our martyrs on all our holy days because we can celebrate our feast today thanks to them.”
Yazidis begin to celebrate the Feast of Ezid on Friday. They will celebrate their feast and visit their relatives and friends for a week.
