Attack on political prisoners protesting executions in Iran: Varisha Moradi injured
Security forces attacked political prisoners held in Evin prison while protesting the execution of imprisoned Kurdish protester Reza Rasaei, injuring Kurdish political prisoner Varisha Moradi.
News Center- Protests sparked in the women's ward of Evin Prison following the execution of Reza Rasaei on Tuesday, August 6.
Reza Rasaei (34), a Kurdish citizen who was arrested during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” protests in western Iranian province of Kermanshah and sentenced to death in November 2023, was executed in Dizel Abad prison located in Kermanshah province, on August 6, 2024. Political prisoners in the women’s ward of Evin prison protested the execution on the same day; however, the prison guards attacked them, injuring several women, including Kurdish political prisoner Varisha Moradi.
According to the received reports, Varisha Moradi was not transferred to a hospital although she had bruises and injuries and Hadi Mohammadi, the deputy officer of Evin ordered the guards to attack the female political prisoners.
