Hasakah- The reactions against the use of chemical weapons by Turkey in the Kurdistan Region continue. The members of the Armenian Women’s Union in the Hasakah Canton think that Turkey aims to do what was done in Halabja by using chemical weapons.

“Chemical weapons damages ecological balance”

Emphasizing that the use of chemical weapons is a war crime against humanity, Mexrîk Mîxayîl said that the use of chemical weapons also affects nature and animals. “The use of chemical weapons is a crime against nature, humanity and animals. The chemical weapons being used in the territories of Kurdistan damages ecological balance. Its aim is to destroy all living creatures. The use of chemical weapons by the Turkish army shows its failure.”

“The aim is to do what was done in Halabja”

Drawing attention to the Halabja Massacre, Mexrîk Mîxayîl said that Turkey aims to do what was done in Halabja. “History repeats itself, the use of chemical weapons in the Kurdistan Region again reminds us of the Halabja Massacre. We face the same thing now; the same genocidal policies are carried out now. The history of the occupying Turkish state is full of massacres and genocides. The Turkish state always violates international law. The policies of the Turkish state do not only affect a minority but also all minorities. We will never forget the genocide committed against our people, Armenians. The sovereign powers only care about their interests by shedding the blood of Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds and Arabs. People should raise their voices against such policies. We should unite around the Democratic Nation Project to save us from genocidal attacks,” Mexrîk Mîxayîl said.

“Women and children were badly affected”

Indicating that the use of chemical weapons badly affects women and children, Lûsnak Kavoriyan said, “The Turkish state used chemical weapons in its attacks on Afrin and Serêkaniyê. Women and children were badly affected by these attacks. The Turkish state ignores international laws and conventions by using chemical weapons. Today, it uses chemical weapons in the Kurdistan Region. Chemical weapons have a negative effect on women and children. Pregnant women give birth to disabled children. So, the use of chemical weapons also affects the future. People should raise their voices to reveal the crimes committed by the Turkish state. As the people in the region, we should unite to stand against genocidal policies being carried out in our region.”
