Hasakah- On August 25, the General Command of Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria announced the launch of the second phase of the “Humanitarian and Security Operation” in al-Hol camp against ISIS sleeper cells in the camp with the support of the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ), Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Anti-Terror Units (YAT). Until now, the Internal Security Forces have seized many types of ammunition, instruments of torture, findings about Turkey and other international forces and sharia certificates used by ISIS members. On the 20th day of the second phase, the YPJ fighters rescued a Yazidi woman. The Ant-Terror Units (YAT) member Arîn Mîrkan spoke to NuJINHA about the ongoing operation.

“Sharia certificates were found”

Stating that they have found military bags belonging to ISIS and mobile phones hidden underground, Arîn Mîrkan said, “Weapons made of nylon garden hoses and books written in different languages have been found. These weapons are used to impose the mentality of ISIS on children living in the camp. Meanwhile, Sharia courses are given to women in the camp. Documents entitled “Um Xeyîda a Endenosî” have been found in the camp. According to the documents, many women attended and completed these courses. In addition, many tunnels used by ISIS members to hide them were discovered and destroyed. ISIS members used these tunnels to store military equipment, weapons were found inside the tunnel.”

 “Saudi Arabia supports ISIS members”

Underlining that female ISIS members threaten the fighters to behead them, Arîn Mîrkan said, “Whenever they (female ISIS members) see the fighters, they threaten them. ISIS members try to reorganize themselves but we will not allow them. We also found books of the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Higher Education in the camp. These books show us that there is a connection between ISIS members and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia supports ISIS members in the camp to reorganize themselves.”

“We will not allow ISIS to reorganize”

We defeated ISIS in Baxoz and Xiwêran and we will not allow ISIS to reorganize in al-Hol camp,” Arîn Mîrkan said.
