Another woman activist arrested in Afghanistan
Another woman activist has been reportedly arrested by the Taliban after she participated in protests in Afghanistan.
News Center- The Taliban continues to arrest women activists participating in protests in the country one by one. Mursal Ayar was arrested in Afghanistan on Wednesday. However, the Taliban have denied the arrests of women activists. Bilal Karimi, the Spokesperson of the Taliban, said they were looking into Mursal Ayar's case. “This is a case which has just happened. We are investigating it,” he said.
The UN's human rights office said that it was very alarmed over the continued disappearance of people connected with the recent women's rights protests.
Ravina Shamdasani, the spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Human Rights, said they were gravely concerned for their well-being and safety.
The UN urged the Taliban leadership to send clear messages to their rank-and-file that there must be no reprisals against people who demonstrate peacefully and exercise their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
