‘Abortion stigma in society can also make this experience difficult for women’
Reminding that women in Turkey have the right to terminate pregnancy during the ten weeks of pregnancy, the guides says:
“The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that abortion is a simple and common healthcare procedure and a basic healthcare service. According to WHO, around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year. Although abortion is a simple and common healthcare procedure, it can be a personal and emotional experience for women. Abortion stigma in society can also make this experience difficult for women.”
‘Healthcare professionals have important roles’
Stressing that healthcare professionals have important roles, the guide calls on the healthcare professionals who provide abortion services to “adopt an understanding, professional and women- approach to this issue.
