80-year-old Makbule Özer sent back to prison

80-year-old Makbule Özer, who was transferred to a hospital yesterday because she had symptoms of coronavirus, has been sent back to prison after receiving treatment.

News Center- In Turkey, sick prisoners continue to face rights violations. 80-year-old Makbule Özer, who was sent to prison in May 2022 after the Turkish Supreme Court upheld her two years and a month prison sentence for allegedly aiding and abetting a terrorist organization, was transferred to a hospital from the Van T-type Prison yesterday because she had symptoms of coronavirus. After receiving treatment, she was sent back to prison.

Makbule Özer, who has been suffering from many diseases, reportedly has a 53% disability rating and cannot walk. Her lawyers demanded their client to serve her prison sentence at home; however, their demand was rejected by the court.
