News Center- A magnitude 5.6 earthquake shook the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya  killing one person, injuring 69 others and causing already damaged buildings to collapse. While the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute has announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.5, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has announced it as 5.6.

Shortly after the earthquake, search and rescue teams and fire trucks arrived at the scenes. 10 buildings have collapsed, Yeşilyurt Mayor Mehmet Çınar announced.

Aziz Deliktaş and his daughter Şeyma Deliktaş, had entered the damaged building to collect belongings, were trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building. The search and rescue teams pulled Aziz Deliktaş alive from the rubble. The search and rescue efforts continue in the city.

AFAD has announced that the earthquake that struck the city today at 12.04 has killed one person and injured 69 others. Mahmut Özer, Minister of National Education, has announced that 20 buildings have collapsed in the city.
