421 cases of sexual assault documented in Iraq in first six months of 2024

News Center- The Sexual Assault Division of Iraq’s Forensic Medicine Department has released a report on cases of sexual assault and violence across Iraq in the first six months of 2024.
The division documented 421 cases of sexual assault and violence across Iraq between January 1 and July 6, the report said. Of the 421 victims, 327 were female and 94 were male.
53,889 cases of domestic violence were filed in Iraqi courts over the past three years, according to the Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq. The number of lawsuits registered during the first half of 2024 was 13,857, 18,436 in 2023 and 21,595 in 2022.
