2nd Young Women’s Conference held in Shahba

The Afrin Region Young Women's Union held the 2nd Young Women’s Conference in Shahba. During the conference, the importance of organized young women’s struggle was emphasized.

Shahba- The Afrin Region Young Women’s Union held its 2nd Young Women’s Conference in Shahba with the motto, “We will win the fight for freedom with the spirit of Viyan and Nûjiyan” with the participation of 400 young women delegates. At the conference, the women expressed their thoughts.

“We told the stories of revolutionary young women”

Zelal Ebdo, a board member of the Afrin Region Young Women’s Union, spoke to NuJINHA about the purpose of the conference and two-year activities of the union. “Our activities have focused on the special warfare waged by the invaders against the youth. We have also held many training courses for young women. We told them the roles of young women in revolution and the stories of revolutionary young women so that they will play such roles in future. In the last two years, young women played many important roles in society and strengthened their organized struggle,” she told us.

“Our next activities will focus on breaking the isolation in Imrali”

Pointing to the roles of young women in society, Zelal Ebdo said, “Since 2018, young women have been experiencing many changes. They protect their identity by raising awareness in society. Young women shoulder the heaviest burden. If young women want to defeat the invaders, they should organize themselves according to the philosophy and ideology of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). After the conference, a young women's council will be formed and the activities of this council will focus on breaking the isolation in Imrali.”

“We have determined our deficiencies”

Stêrvan Bereket, spokesperson of the Young Women’s Union office in Şêrewa town, was one of the women who participated in the conference. She stressed the importance of the conference while a special warfare is waged against young women.

“Women are killed and this conference is a response to the killing of women. At the conference, we discussed our deficiencies. We have determined our deficiencies and we will overcome these deficiencies. We hope to hold the next conference in Afrin.”
