21st Ayşenur Zarakolu Award goes to imprisoned journalists
The 21st Ayşenur Zarakolu Freedom of Expression and Thought Awards have been granted to imprisoned journalists.
News Center- The winners of the 21st Ayşenur Zarakolu Freedom of Expression and Thought Awards have been announced. The award ceremony will be held today (May 9) at the building of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul Branch at 7 p.m.
The winners of this year’s awards are journalist-writer Pakrat Estukyan, journalist-writer Tuğrul Eryılmaz and all imprisoned journalists and press workers.
Who is Ayşenur Zarakolu?
Ayşenur Zarakolu, who was an author, publisher, human rights advocate and co-founder of the Belge Publishing House, died on January 28, 2002 while fighting cancer. Since 2002, the Ayşenur Zarakolu Freedom of Expression and Thought Awards have been granted to those who contribute to freedom of expression and thought in Turkey.
