2023 Newroz to be dedicated to those who lost their lives in the earthquake
2023 Newroz to be held with the slogan "Everywhere Newroz, always freedom" will be dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Maraş-centered earthquakes. The Newroz celebrations will be held in 43 districts and cities.
News Center- 2023 Newroz to be held with the slogans “Everywhere Newroz, always freedom” and “Freedom with the fire of Newroz” will be dedicated to those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that struck Turkey, Kurdistan and Syria on February 6, 2023. The Newroz celebrations will be held in 43 cities.
According to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA), the 2023 Newroz celebrations will be kicked off in Amed (Diyarbakır) on March 10 under the leadership of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), the Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). The Newroz Declaration will be announced in Istanbul on March 11 by the HDK and HDP.
The anger against the ruling party, which sparked in the earthquake zone and rose on the International Women’s Day, will be transferred to the areas where Newroz will be celebrated. The areas where Newroz will be celebrated will be the areas where the election agenda begins.
First fire in Şemzînan, final in Amed
The first fire of Newroz will be lit in the Şemzînan (Şemdinli) district of Colemêrg (Hakkari) on March 15. The Newroz celebrations will take place in 43 cities while the final celebration will take place in Amed.
Since March 16 is the anniversary of the Halabja Massacre and March 17 will mark the 40th day of the 6 February earthquake, there will be no celebrations on both days.

Amed, Dêrsim, Çewlig (Bingöl), Êlih (Batman), Sêrt (Siirt), Qers (Kars), Îdir (Iğdır), Colemêrg (Hakkari), Wan (Van), Agirî, (Ağrı) Erdexan (Ardahan), Muş, Ankara, Mersin, Antalya, İzmir, Aydın, Muğla, Denizli, Manisa, Çanakkale, Bursa, Istanbul, Xarpêt (Elazığ), Riha (Urfa) Merdîn, Şirnex (Şırnak), Balıkesir, Tekirdağ, Kocaeli, Bêdlîs (Bitlis), Erzirom (Erzurum), Konya and Aydın.
