"Afaq al-Mara" in its new issue... Syrian women between the constitution and political transformations

The 17th issue of "Afaq al-Mara" (Women's Horizons), titled "Women in the Syrian Constitution and the Future of the Country," discusses Syrian women's status between constitutional text and political-social transformations.

Qamishlo — The seventeenth issue of "Afaq al-Mara" carries an in-depth intellectual and political file on the status of Syrian women in the constitution and the future of the country, examining the gap between declared texts and lived reality, amid an extremely complex transitional phase that Syria is going through.

"Afaq al-Mara" magazine has published its seventeenth issue under the title "Women in the Syrian Constitution and the Future of the Country," opening through it a broad discussion on the status of Syrian women within the constitutional framework, and the extent to which this reflects on their daily reality and on the future of their participation in building the state and society.

The issue raises a central problem concerning the gap between the rights and guarantees stipulated in the constitutional declaration and the actual challenges facing Syrian women amid rapid political and security transformations, making the women's issue an essential part of the debate over the shape of the future state.

The issue includes a collection of articles and studies addressing multiple issues related to Syrian women and their role in society and politics. A main section entitled "The Moral and Political Society is a Democratic Society" discusses the importance of constitutionally guaranteeing Syrian women's rights as an essential condition for advancing their reality and enhancing their participation in building a balanced democratic society.

Another section addresses the issue of "Syrian Women under the Nation-State: Between Slogans and Reality," highlighting the discrepancy between the declared political discourse on women's rights and actual practices, while affirming the role of Syrian women as "guardians of memory and identity" in the face of social and political transformations.

In another section, the issue discusses "The Reality of Syrian Women Between the Challenges of the Transitional Phase and the Horizons of Empowerment," shedding light on the impact of the political and security developments the country is witnessing, which put the region on a hotbed and impose multiplied challenges on efforts to empower women and enhance their presence in various fields.

The issue concludes that the future of Syrian women is closely linked to the nature of upcoming political and constitutional solutions, and to the extent to which these solutions can transform legal texts into an actual reality that guarantees equality and genuine participation for women in shaping the future of the country.
