ŞÎNYAR BAYÎZ

Sulaymaniyah- Speaking about the recent attacks on pioneering Kurdish women, activist Kejal Heme Reşîd said that the Kurds and Kurdish women face not only Turkish attacks but also international attacks. “The attacks of the Turkish state are not new attacks; it has been intensifying its attacks for a year. The Turkish state has used chemical weapons in its attacks on Kurds. International forces are also aware of the attacks of the Turkish state. We must react to these attacks at the international level,” she told NuJINHA.

‘The sovereign powers are afraid of resisting women’

Mentioning the uprising in Iran, Kejal Heme Reşîd said, “The Iranian state has been oppressing Kurdish people and ethnic groups for years. The revolution that started in Iran and Rojhilatê Kurdistan is known as a women’s revolution now. People all around the world chant the slogan, ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’. Kurdish women want to crown the women's revolution that started in Rojava with the women's revolution in Iran and Rojhilat. The sovereign powers are afraid of resisting women. For this reason, they use all methods to prevent women’s resistance.”

‘Women’s political participation is prevented’

Kejal Heme Raşîd thinks women's political participation is prevented despite their role in the resistance and struggle. “Women have taken up weapons to fight for freedom; however, their political participation is still at lower levels. Because their political participation is prevented. This is very common in Bashur Kurdistan. This is the result of a thousand years of male domination over women. We need a democratic process. Now, women make efforts for women’s unity in Kurdistan and all around the world.”

‘We need to improve our diplomatic relations’

At the end of her speech, Kejal Heme Raşîd spoke about the Treaty of Lausanne. “This treaty is a very important treaty for the Kurdish people because this treaty divided Kurdistan in four parts. We need to improve our diplomatic relations to make our voices heard all around the world. In addition, we need unity especially in Bashur Kurdistan. We hope that the unity of the Kurds in four parts of Kurdistan will be stronger in 2023.”
