Parliamentary question to the Ministry of Health for refugee women

HDP Istanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm has submitted a parliamentary question to the Ministry of Health for refugee women. Züleyha Gülüm has asked Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca why refugee women having no identity cards are prevented from their right to access health services.
News Center- Addressing a Parliamentary question to Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm has underlined that refugee women having no identity cards cannot get health services at the public hospitals. She has asked, “Why hasn't any solution been developed for refugee women who gave birth/ will give birth?”
The parliamentary question draws attention to the fact that refugee women, who have no identity cards and who are unregistered, apply to public hospitals to give birth there but they aren’t accepted by the hospitals. Züleyha Gülüm says, “They are held hostage by hospitals providing health services because they cannot pay the expenses. Women, who do not have any social security or legal protection, are struggling to survive in poverty. For this reason, they apply to illegal health services to give birth and they give birth in unhealthy conditions. The rights of women and children to health and life have been violated.”
Züleyha Gülüm has called on the Ministry of Health to take steps for refugee women’s rights to safe health services.
