The July 19th Revolution, which started in Kobanî and was soon heard in the region and the world, went down in history as the “Women’s Revolution”. On March 15, 2011, the Syrian civil war broke out and the peoples of NE Syria started to build their future against the Assad regime nine years ago today. And then, they staged a struggle against ISIS.

This path became a hope for all Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Armenians, Chaldeans, Turkmens and Circassians peoples. The resistance, organization and determination of women spread from Kobanî to the whole world. ISIS was defeated despite the supports it received.

The alternative system in Rojava has become a space for all people to equally participate in governance. This system provides the conditions for the people of the Middle East to live together in peace.

The co-chair system is active now in NE Syria. Women have their autonomous organizations and take part in every part of life now. The Revolution in Rojava is also known as a “Women Revolution” against the mindset of ISIS.
