Wetha El Ceduh lives in the Tey neighborhood of Qamishlo. She learned how to raise cattle from her mother. “I have worked in cattle farming since I was a child. I raised my children by working as a cattle breeder.” She told us.

Wetha El Ceduh told us her story as follows:

“As women, we are hardworking and dynamic because we struggle against difficulties throughout our lives. I am originally an Arab woman.  Like all women who got married and had children at a young age, I wore out at a young age. 40 years ago, my husband began to buy camels and I told him we could raise cattle, too, because I knew how to raise them. Then, I lost my husband and had to raise cattle to look after my children and family. I have been working as a cattle breeder for 40 years. I raised my children in this way.”

She raises 15 cattle now

Stating that working as a cattle breeder is a very hard job, Wetha El Ceduh said that she keeps working despite her advancing age because she has experience. “The cattle are like my children. All cattle breeders should see cattle as their children, they shouldn’t hurt them. If you take good care of your animals, they will take good care of you,” she said.
