Manbij- Manbij Culture and Art Center started a project at the beginning of June to teach women how to play musical instruments in order to increase the number of women in the field of music. The center has held a six-month music course with the participation of many women.

Women take strength from each other

Roz Îshaq, the director of the Manbij Culture and Art Center, told us that the center has started the project for women. “Many of the women participating in our six-month music course graduated from the department of music. These women have been taking this course in order to improve their skills in music. We chose good music teachers to teach music to these women. Until now, six young women have participated in the course. They encourage each other to learn musical instruments. They take strength from each other. Since the beginning of 2022, the number of women interested in music, theatre and plastic arts has been increasing. Their interest encourages us to hold such courses.”

“Women should follow their dreams”

Zeran Faris is one of the music teachers taking the course. “I can express myself through music. I love playing the oud. The oud is one of the musical instruments from the Middle East. I can play many songs on the oud. I decided to take this course in order to improve my skills and gain new experiences. Such courses encourage young people and give opportunities to improve their skills. Women should always follow their dreams,” she told NuJINHA.

“Women should benefit from the opportunities”

Hêvîn Şêxo is another woman taking the course. She believes that every person has a talent for playing, singing or drawing. “They should improve their talents. For instance, I love guitar and always looked for a course to learn how to play a guitar. The Manbij Culture and Art Center gave us the opportunity to improve ourselves. You can express your feelings and thoughts through music. The number of women in the field of music in Manbij was very low. All women should benefit from the opportunities given by the center in order to increase the number of women in this field.”
