Film telling stories of women: “Semay Jiyan” to be screened soon

Kurdish director Viyan Mayi’s film named “Semay Jiyan” was shot in Germany. The film telling the stories of women will be screened soon.

News Center- “Semay Jiyan”, a silent film by Kurdish director Viyan Mayi, who lives in Duhok city of the Federal Kurdistan Region, will be screened soon. Starring Şirin Qureşi and Pasar Herki, the film was shot in Germany. Viyan Mayi spoke to our news agency about her film. “It is almost ready. I need sponsors to attend film festivals.  

It tells women’s stories

The film tells the stories and suffering of women, Viyan Mayi said, “It is a silent film and it tells stories through Semay. In the film, we tell the story of thoughts, life, and freedom of women. I have another script called “Welate Min (My Country)” and I've been working on it for two years. It is based on a true story. It is the story of a woman in a village; she is forced into a marriage.”
