Women to take streets in Ankara for International Women’s Day

Ankara Women’s Platform will gather at Sakarya Square on March 8, International Women’s Day. “We call on all women to welcome March 8 on the streets with our enthusiasm and joy,” said the platform’s members.
Ankara – Ankara Women’s Platform issued a press statement at the Office Workers Union (Büro Emekçileri Sendikası –BES) Ankara Branch for International Women’s Day. A banner reading, “We are rising for our freedom against discrimination, poverty, male and state violence” was hung on the wall of the meeting room. Esma Çağlak read the statement on behalf of women and said, “Male and state violence is everywhere today.”
Esma Çağlak noted that they will not stop fighting together against attacks, gendered policies and hate speech, transphobia, and homophobia.
Women to gather at Sakarya Square
“As women, we gained all of our rights by struggling. We will struggle more to gain more rights. We will make the Istanbul Convention to be implemented. We will not allow the women’s solidarity to be tried! We will end femicide! We will build a free and equal life for women! In every sphere of life; we will keep struggling against discrimination, poverty, male and state violence. We call on all women to welcome March 8 on the streets with our enthusiasm and joy! We will come together at Sakarya Square at 14:30 on March 8, International Women’s Day,” said Esma Çağlak.
