Pressures on women living in cities controlled by Taliban increase

Some of the practices of the Taliban in many regions in Afghanistan are not surprising. Taliban members have been distributing leaflets explaining “must-follow” rules in Taliban-controlled areas.

News Center- The leaflets distributed by Taliban members in the Belh district of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Afghanistan's Balkh Province are raising concern. According to the Rawa News, restrictions are imposed on women in the district and women cannot leave their houses without wearing a burqa and a male companion.

According to the received reports, women living in Takhar, Badakhshan, and Kunduz provinces have faced the same rules. Afghanistan is ranked 122nd out of 180 countries in Reporters Without Borders' World Press Freedom Index
