Turkey: Men kill at least 31 women in June

Men killed at least 31 women and eight children, 34 women and three children died under suspicious circumstances in Turkey last month, according to JINNEWS.

Since Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, gender-based violence cases are on rise in the country. According to the news compiled by JINNEWS from local and national newspapers, news websites and news agencies, at least 31 women were killed, 24 more died under suspicious circumstances in June.

8 children were killed

According to JINNEWS, 12 women were tried to be murdered and eight children were killed in June; three more children died under suspicious circumstances. In June, 11 women were killed by their husbands, five by their relatives, one woman was killed for wanting to break up, one woman by her ex-husband, two by their neighbors and four by their partners. The perpetrators, who killed seven women, have not been determined.
